GIANT AND MARTIN’S RAISE RECORD $2.3 MILLION TO
BENEFIT CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK HOSPITALS
Carlisle, PA – GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’S Food
Markets recently wrapped up its annual summer fundraising efforts
for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) raising a record $2,325,100 to
support local children’s hospitals. Marking its 15th anniversary of
supporting CMN, GIANT/MARTIN’S eclipsed the $25 million fundraising
mark in support of children’s hospitals in the Harrisburg,
Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and Danville/Altoona
areas.
GIANT/MARTIN’S 15th annual “Our Kids” golf outing
on July 11 included more than 1,800 golfers across thirteen Central
Pennsylvania courses and raised a record $1.8 million. “Our Kids”
is the largest and most profitable Children’s Miracle Network golf
event in the country, and GIANT/MARTIN’S is counted among the Top
10 in CMN fundraising prowess. Over 175 GIANT/MARTIN’S associates,
along with numerous Children’s Miracle Network hospital
representatives, volunteered to ensure success of the event.
“I am so proud of all of our associates who have
played such a vital part over the years in making ‘Our Kids’ such a
success story,” said Rick Herring, president. “I want to thank all
of our customers, associates, and vendor partners for their help in
achieving the $25 million milestone. It is their overwhelming
generosity and passion that has allowed us to uphold our mission of
improving the quality of life for children in partnership with
Children’s Miracle Network.”
Customers once again did their part for local
Children’s Miracle Network hospitals by making a $1.00 donation at
the checkout from June 26 through July 9. This year, customers
raised $510,920 through the annual in-store campaign.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the
alliance of premier hospitals for children, is a non-profit
organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of
children by raising funds for children’s hospitals across North
America. Each year the 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals
provide the finest medical care, life-saving research and
preventative education to help millions of kids overcome diseases
and injuries of every kind.
